Analogical Thinking (1)

Week Seven31st August – 4th September

Class Exercise on Objects's Expressions
Reflect to what I learn this week, look into something with an Analogical Thinking is really amazing.
I enjoy looking for objects and buildings connected to this method. This way of thinking encouraged me to look deeper and be critical of my surroundings.

On the exercise at the class, I drew 3 objects with 5 different expressions. Those exercise above helped me to transferred human expression into object's expression.

Lateral Thinking

Week Six24-28th August

sketches on class

Lateral Thinking is the way of thinking the opposite. Opposite means out of the box, throwing away the ordinary thoughts. Here, there were many problems to be solved, and those problem could only be solved by extraordinary ways.

I really enjoy this lesson, it pushed me to think another way. Nothing is impossible if I dare to broke the ordinary way into the extraordinary way of thinking. These kind of exercises are very helpful in strengthen my creative thinking as well.

More exciting exercise bellow!

" Chicken Case"

Another exercise is how to solve a problem if my neighbour raised a chicken, but his chicken keep destroying my plants.

Here are several ways I found to solve it :

- Give the insecticide to the plants so the chicken wouldn't like eating it
- Add water sprayer near the hole
- Put a dog food near the hole for the chicken to eat
- Raise a snake, put it near the hole

"Bee Case"
my mapping of the room and the bee

Our last exercise we have done was the "Bee" and flower case.
How it is possible that a bee more interested with flower painting rather than a real fresh flowers?
Here are some answer that we ( me and Jun Won ) found.

Logical :
1. Height of the table is too high/low so the bee can see it through
2. The owner sprayed a flower air freshener on the painting
3. Colors of the painting is more attractive than the surroundings
4. The lighting over the painting is more dominant than the whole room
5. The bee don't like the smell of fresh flowers

Un-logical:
1. The bee don't like the smell of fresh rose
2. The bee has a sinusitis problem
3. The bee like to fly far from the window, exploring the room
4. The real flowers are very small, smaller than the bee
5. The bee has a good sense of art

Mindmapping

Week Five 17-21st August

Mindmapping of Group 7

Reflect on last week's lesson,we were using mindmapping to developing the ideas of a topic.

Group 7
( Phebe (me) , Jun Won, Ethan )

This time, we had to create the mindmapping of "How Education fits your Dream of a Happy Life."
Education roles as a very important thing in human's life. Here, our group wrote the advantages we found.
However, on a dream of a happy life, education also roles big part on it. High educated people will get many advantages in order to get a happy life. Those who graduated from a university will have a bigger change to get a well-paid job rather than the one graduated from high school.
Taking higher education also makes people have more experiences

Otherwise, my family support me to study abroad, and I really thankful for it. Study abroad expand the experiences I'll have. And here, I become more respectful and more independent.

Hey by the Beach

Reflect back, I joined Laskar NAFA Indonesia's special event last week end in East Coast.
Walked on the sand and saw the ocean was just a pretty scenery in this busy city. I've got inspired by the waves and all the surroundings here, which really helps me in the creative thinking process.
I'm sure I'll be back to this beach, and get more inspired.

ART JOG 2015 ; Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Week Four10-14th August

Art is an universal language as well as the best way to express emotion and feelings.
These photos was taken by me on an annual event, ARTJOG -8.Which held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
I visited this event with my cousin Nathania, we spent half of day there and felt edified and inspired by the works.
Since I visited ART JOG 8, my intuition on art was changing.
All of the work has their own uniqueness that change my perspective in seeing artworks.
What a breathtaking pieces of work that blown my mind.
This was a slow visit that I never forget.

Colors.
Different color, creates different meaning. These artworks have a strong message with colors. I always attracted with anything that has bright colors, it brings positive energy and add more excitement.
I also like to use various colors to express my emotion and telling message of my work.
In colors, the spirit of a work is always on it and never fading out.

'
This leaf museum has a special meaning to me. This little museum shows how dead leafs still valuable and somehow become a very interesting art installation. I don't usually care about various kind of leafs. They might be small, but when I saw this, I realized how big our God's creation are.

Sparks of Paper

What can you do with paper?
Colorful origamis arranged as a chandelier in the main dome. This artworks represent the power of shape, color, and paper itself. Never imagined that paper art would be this interesting.

***

Reflection of Colors

What can a jar be? Another brainstorming idea of jar I found in Chilis restaurant. The jars can reflect the light from the lamp, and spread more light to fill in the room.

***

Metal

Metal is an interesting media for artist to make an artwork. This metal looks like a fish, and can be a dancing pose of human. There's no rules to shape and build something with metal.

Red Wheels

We were on National Museum of Singapore. Red light being used by the artist to represent warm and intense mood. The artist reuse the wheels above us as the decoration. In order to bring the atmosphere of the activity in the past.
